Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve

All the information about the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve

Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve is the first internationally recognised conservation area to be established in the Middle East. Centred on the prestigious Al Maha Desert Resort, the reserve covers some 225 square kilometres of land (roughly 5% of the Emirate of Dubai).

Dubai Desert Reserve

The endless landscape of the desert is utterly beguiling, and to protect the terrain and animals that have been reintroduced, access to this area is strictly regulated in order to protect the reserve. A number of species run wild in the conservation area including the Arabian Oryx, camels, and even a few more exotic animals such as leopards (although they are so rare you are very unlikely to see them).

To gain entry to the reserve, you will need to travel as a part of an organised group with a licensed tour company such as Arabian Adventures, and a number of excursions such as the popular Dune Dinner, Sand Skiing trips in Dubai, and of course the chance to learn how to drive in the unforgiving desert conditions are all offered in order to help you to get the most out of your visit.

If you are particularly passionate about seeing the desert at its most majestic, then you should consider staying at the luxurious Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa for a few days during your holiday for a truly unforgettable experience.
