The Shopping Malls

All the information about the shopping malls in Dubai

The selection of modern shopping malls in Dubai make hunting down bargains a great experience. Glamorous shops and designer boutiques can be found next door to familiar high street names to ensure that no matter what it is you are looking or, you will be able to find it somewhere. Much of Dubai's heritage is based on trade, and the latest generations of locals have taken shopping to the next level, and ensured that the city has developed a reputation to rival New York as a shopper's paradise.

Dubai Shopping Mall

The prices that you pay in Dubai are tax free! So they're a lot cheaper than you would pay at home, and with so much to choose from in the many different shopping malls that you can find in and around the city centre, the chances are, that you'll leave Dubai with a full suitcase, and an empty bank account. Although prices in shops are a lot more fixed than in the souks, it is always worth asking for "the best price" - you might well get a discount.

Al Khaleej Centre
One of the premier malls in the city, Al Khaleej is located right in the heart of Dubai, and is renowned for its design, and prestige, with a reputation for genuinely satisfying shopping.

Al Manal Centre
This small shopping mall is well known as one of the best places to pick up jewellery, watches and ladies fashions.

Al Mulla Plaza
This medium-sized shopping mall is popular with the locals, and offers a selection of boutiques and shops.

Bur Juman Centre
The Bur Juman Centre is one of Bur Dubai's newer malls, and has a reputation for value, it offers a large number of outlets, including European and American chain-stores.

Deira City Centre
This enormous mall offers almost every shop you can imagine, including an Ikea and a Marks & Spencer. Getting around inside can be a bit confusing because of the size, but once you have your bearings, shopping at City centre is a real pleasure.

Dubai Duty Free
Because the whole of Dubai's shopping is free of tax, buying goods at the airport on your way home is not necessarily any cheaper than you would find in the city, but with so much choice, and frequent special promotions - buy one get one free, and raffles to win a Ferrari or Rolls Royce, The Duty Free Mall at the airport is well worth browsing through for a while before your flight departs.

Hamarain Centre
one of the newest malls in Deira, the Hamarain Centre is decorated with fountains and cascading plants, has a food court and very exclusive shopping. It is probably the best place outside the souks to pick up local handicrafts and antiques.

Madinat Souk
Newly opened at the Madinat Jumeirah Resort, this mall boasts around seventy shops, and has been designed to resemble a traditional street market or Souk. The outlets are high-end designer shops, and the jewellery is out of this world. It may not be one of the cheapest places to shop in Dubai, but it is certainly one of the best.

Mercato - "The Good Life"
The only large mall in the Jumeirah area of Dubai, Mercato is modelled on a European shopping arcade and is a more laid back and relaxed place to shop than many of Dubai's other malls, Mercato offers a good mix of extremely upmarket stores, and more everyday places too.

Wafi Shopping Mall
In a distinctive pyramid building close to the landmark Al Garhoud Bridge, Wafi Mall is one of the largest and most impressive places in Dubai to go shopping, the mall has a great reputation for value, especially on designer goods, which are around half the price you would pay in the UK.
